November 14 was our first day in Helsinki during the Erasmus Program. We got up at around 7:30 AM, which was a bit tough, because our group arrived to the hotel at 2 AM, so we barely slept 5 hours, but it did not influence our excitement towards the day. After everybody had breakfast, we set off to our first destination, which was the Helsinki Cathedral. It took us about 15 minutes to walk there, but it was a wonderful experience, because this was the first time for us to see the city in daylight. When we arrived to the cathedral one of our teachers told us about the history of the cathedral, then we entered the building. The inside of the cathedral was gorgeous, almost everything was made out of gold, even the enormous organ. When we came out of the cathedral, the group split into two, one half went to a Finnish-Russian school, the other half went to the University of Helsinki with the students of the mentioned Finnish-Russian school. I went to the Finnish-Russian school, which took us 25 minutes of bus ride to get there. After a warm welcome by the members of the school, we ate lunch together, then the students of the school took us on a tour inside the building. When we finished the tour, we presented the topic of our trip to Finland with interesting PowerPoint presentations. After the presentations we headed back to the coastline in Helsinki where we met with the other part of the group, to sail to an island named Iso Mustasaari, where we learned about the military history of the Island. To end the fabulous day, we had dinner at a Russian restaurant with the students of the Finnish-Russian school. It was a great opportunity for us to learn more about the traditional food of Russia. After this eventful, fascinating day we went back to our hotel where we ended our day with a well-deserved sleep.
