Discovering Tallinn

Dóri, Emili (my exchange student), Gabi and I took the 10 o'clock bus, and after two and a half hours we arrived in Tallinn. Our first destination was Rahvapark. Although it was a bit empty due to the cold weather, we still had a nice walk. Next, we visited Kadriorg Palace. We walked around and also went inside, where we saw beautiful paintings such as Lissom Lassies at the Lakeside, Burning of Troy, and Spring by Akseli Gallen-Kallela. There were also impressive sculptures, and Emili told us about the history of the place. After that, we went to the Office of the President of the Republic of Estonia. Then we took a taxi to the Old Town, where we explored many interesting places:

  • the Parliament

  • Tallinn Town Hall

  • Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

  • Estonian Academy of Sciences

We had lunch at the Baltic Station Market, then walked back to the Old Town and visited some souvenir shops. As the sun began to set, we went to a lookout point, but unfortunately it was very cloudy, so we couldn't take good pictures of the sunset. We continued our walk along the Gulf of Finland and checked out the Ship Museum and the Iglupark from the outside. As it got dark, we headed back to the bus station and returned to Tartu.
